On April 1st, 13 high school students from Târgu Jiu, aged 16–17, came together for a powerful focus group as part of the YODEC project.
🧠 Where’s cooperation needed most?
Students touched on a wide range of important topics where teamwork truly matters:
- Education (especially in rural areas)
- Youth engagement (sports, support, safe spaces)
- Mental health
- Tech & AI ethics
- Climate action
- Public health
- Fighting inequality
- Conflict resolution
That’s a lot — but these young people aren’t afraid to think big.
🌍 What’s stopping cross-border cooperation?
They had a clear view of the challenges:
- Different political or economic agendas
- Lack of money
- Tech gaps
- Hard-to-build trust
- Cultural differences that can confuse or divide
They know real collaboration takes more than just good intentions — it needs resources, connection, and understanding.
💡 Their dream projects?
The answers were super creative:
- Fixing city roads and infrastructure
- Building a community app + workshops with teachers, psychologists & tech developers
- Hosting an independent film festival
- Innovating education by improving class schedules
- Promoting green energy
- And tackling big social issues — together, across sectors
As one student put it:
“We keep talking about big global issues, but sometimes it’s just about fixing the roads in your town so people feel heard and cared for.”
Simple, smart, and so true. These teens reminded us that real change often starts local and grows global. 🌱🌍
