On March 26th, we had the pleasure of meeting 17 inspiring 10th-grade students in Brovary, Ukraine, for a fun and meaningful consultation as part of the YODEC project. Using World Café and focus group methods — plus some creative teamwork games — we explored big questions about borders, cooperation, and their dream projects.

So what did the youth of Brovary think?

🌍 Borders: Barrier or Bridge?
All teams saw living near a border as a big opportunity — more culture, better understanding, and chances to travel or study abroad. But they also reminded us of the risks when that border is shared with an aggressive country.

🤝 Where is cooperation needed?
Most teams said: military and education. Others added public transport — making it modern, fast, and accessible to everyone.

🧠 Which Interreg project helps most?
The youth knew their stuff!

  • Interreg Danube: for helping countries grow together
  • Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine: for building strong cross-border bonds
  • Interreg Europe: for boosting Ukraine’s economy and regional policy

🚧 What makes cooperation hard?
They were honest: unequal development between countries can make true cooperation tricky. Something we all need to work on!

💡 Dream Project?
Two teams dreamed of a youth volunteering project to raise funds and support war-affected areas. Another imagined a project to improve urban infrastructure — making cities more liveable for everyone.

We left Brovary full of hope — these teens are thoughtful, motivated, and ready to shape the future. And honestly? We’d love to see their dream projects come true.
