On 27 May 2025, Ukrainian students participated in a consultation focused on the realities of living near national borders and the role of international cooperation in rebuilding communities during wartime. The discussion reflected a strong awareness of both the country\u2019s current challenges and the transformative potential of cross-border collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two teams shared contrasting perspectives depending on the type of border. They agreed that living near the border with an aggressive country<\/strong> has serious negative consequences<\/strong>, including security risks<\/strong>, the constant threat of aggression<\/strong>, and the fear of war<\/strong>. However, when it comes to borders with the European Union<\/strong>, teams emphasized the positive effects<\/strong>, such as economic development<\/strong>, greater opportunities for people<\/strong>, and access to European initiatives<\/strong>that support growth and recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When discussing where cooperation is most needed<\/strong>, participants agreed that it should focus on rebuilding urban infrastructure<\/strong> and improving the educational system<\/strong>. Their reflections connected community resilience directly with education, viewing schools as key spaces for both learning and rebuilding hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Teams also highlighted two useful Interreg projects<\/strong>: Interreg Europe<\/strong> and Interreg NEXT Poland\u2013Ukraine<\/strong>, both recognized for their relevance to Ukraine\u2019s current situation. These programs were appreciated for their role in supporting reconstruction efforts<\/strong>, facilitating partnerships<\/strong>, and integrating Ukraine more closely with European regions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All teams unanimously identified war and corruption<\/strong> as the biggest challenges<\/strong> facing Ukraine today. These issues were seen as the main barriers preventing faster progress and deeper cooperation with neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In envisioning their dream projects<\/strong>, participants proposed initiatives closely tied to education.
