This session reflected a notably optimistic tone, with most participants viewing borders as spaces of opportunity rather than limitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This time, the group leaned more toward seeing&nbsp;<strong>borders as an opportunity<\/strong>. They emphasized the&nbsp;<strong>access to diverse job markets<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>cultural enrichment<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>the chance to learn new languages<\/strong>. However, some participants pointed out persistent disadvantages such as&nbsp;<strong>uneven internet coverage<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>differences in healthcare quality<\/strong>, and a&nbsp;<strong>sense of political neglect<\/strong>&nbsp;in border regions that often feel left behind in national decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When discussing&nbsp;<strong>key priorities for cooperation<\/strong>, the group placed strong emphasis on&nbsp;<strong>economic development<\/strong>, particularly&nbsp;<strong>job creation<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>support for local businesses<\/strong>. They also mentioned&nbsp;<strong>transport infrastructure<\/strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>bridges and ferries<\/strong>, as vital for cross-border connection. Other priorities included&nbsp;<strong>collaboration in healthcare<\/strong>, especially during pandemics, and&nbsp;<strong>youth engagement through joint events and sports programs<\/strong>&nbsp;that strengthen interpersonal and cultural ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants highlighted successful examples such as the&nbsp;<strong>Interreg IPA CBC Romania\u2013Serbia<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Hungary\u2013Romania Cross-border Co-operation Programme<\/strong>. These were appreciated for their impact on&nbsp;<strong>cross-border mobility<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>cultural exchange<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>joint business initiatives<\/strong>. One student mentioned a&nbsp;<strong>renewable energy cooperation project<\/strong>, which raised awareness about&nbsp;<strong>sustainability<\/strong>&nbsp;and the importance of shared responsibility for the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several&nbsp;<strong>challenges<\/strong>&nbsp;were also identified. Students noted the&nbsp;<strong>unpredictability of rules and regulations<\/strong>, where what is accepted in one country may not be recognized in another. A common frustration was that&nbsp;<strong>school diplomas and training certificates<\/strong>&nbsp;are&nbsp;<strong>not always equally acknowledged<\/strong>, making&nbsp;<strong>job searching more difficult<\/strong>. Some participants also observed that&nbsp;<strong>border regions feel \u201cinvisible in policymaking\u201d<\/strong>, often receiving&nbsp;<strong>less investment<\/strong>&nbsp;compared to central areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked to imagine their&nbsp;<strong>dream projects<\/strong>, participants proposed creative and future-oriented ideas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>cross-border eco-festival<\/strong>\u00a0celebrating both cultures and promoting sustainability;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>multilingual education platform<\/strong>\u00a0co-developed by schools on both sides of the border;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>shared emergency response center<\/strong>\u00a0to improve crisis preparedness; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>cross-border youth leadership academy<\/strong>\u00a0to train teenagers in\u00a0<strong>diplomacy, sustainability, and innovation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 26 May 2025, Romanian students participated in a consultation exploring the advantages and challenges of living near a border, focusing on cooperation, local development, and youth engagement.
