Many saw it as an&nbsp;<strong>opportunity<\/strong>, emphasizing that borders should&nbsp;<strong>connect, not divide<\/strong>. Constan\u021ba, they noted, could become a true&nbsp;<strong>hub for cultural and economic exchange<\/strong>. Others pointed out that this potential can only be realized when&nbsp;<strong>authorities cooperate effectively<\/strong>, which is often not the case. For many, living near a border opens the door to&nbsp;<strong>new cultures and broader perspectives<\/strong>, though some observed that&nbsp;<strong>missed chances for real collaboration<\/strong>&nbsp;are common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When discussing where cooperation is most needed, young people mentioned&nbsp;<strong>infrastructure, environmental protection, sustainable transport<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>coastal preservation<\/strong>. They also called for&nbsp;<strong>more youth engagement and education exchanges<\/strong>, particularly since some teachers fear that European projects might distract from the curriculum. Other priorities included&nbsp;<strong>cultural preservation, climate action<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>smart transport and startup development<\/strong>&nbsp;to keep young innovators in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among useful Interreg projects, participants highlighted&nbsp;<strong>Clean Border<\/strong>&nbsp;for its tools in emergency and disaster cooperation,&nbsp;<strong>Danube Water Integrated Management<\/strong>&nbsp;for its adaptable logic,&nbsp;<strong>Cross-border Tourism Trail Development<\/strong>&nbsp;for promoting shared heritage, and&nbsp;<strong>Fast Danube<\/strong>&nbsp;for its potential in improving coastal trade and logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their daily lives, young people experience several obstacles to cross-border and transnational cooperation:&nbsp;<strong>the lack of school partnerships with Bulgarian students<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>bureaucracy<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>limited travel options<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>language barriers<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>insufficient promotion of EU initiatives<\/strong>&nbsp;in schools. Many feel that&nbsp;<strong>European cooperation is treated as \u201cextra,\u201d not essential<\/strong>, which prevents more students from engaging in meaningful exchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their \u201cdream projects\u201d included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>Romania\u2013Bulgaria student exchange and eco-lab<\/strong>\u00a0to solve local environmental issues;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>youth cultural centers<\/strong>\u00a0along the Black Sea focused on arts, innovation, and sustainability;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>student-led Black Sea environmental campaign<\/strong>\u00a0using art and storytelling;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>digital museum of shared Romanian\u2013Bulgarian heritage<\/strong>\u00a0curated by young people; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>coastal tech incubator<\/strong>\u00a0for green and smart city startups with cross-border mentorship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 11 April 2025, young people from Romania took part in a consultation focused on cross-border cooperation, sharing their ideas about opportunities, challenges, and the future of collaboration in the Black Sea region.
