During the youth consultation held in the Republic of Moldova, participants reflected on the challenges and cooperation needs in their communities, especially in relation to living near the border.
Young people expressed that living close to a border is a disadvantage, as it restricts access to various sources of imports and limits local economic opportunities. They emphasized the importance of cooperation between political actors and citizens through public hearings to ensure everyone’s voice is heard. Cooperation was also seen as essential between school administrations and students, as well as in the field of ecology, to promote sustainable development for future generations.
When asked about Interreg projects, participants mentioned TAAS, CycleRight, and DEBUTING as positive examples. However, they also pointed out challenges such as the lack of motivation among those responsible for cooperation, and deep political divisions that split citizens into opposing camps struggling for power.
Their “dream project” would aim to connect citizens’ interests with local and public authorities, helping to address their struggles and increase civic engagement to drive positive change within the community.
