ABOUT YODEC

Youth Voices of the Danube: Empowering Local Champions for European Cohesion

YODEC is a groundbreaking project designed to bring young people into the heart of European decision-making for the next EU Cohesion Policy (2028-2034). Through this initiative, youth from across the Danube Region will take an active role in influencing the future of Europe, helping shape policies that address the unique needs and challenges of their communities.

YODEC is all about empowering youth voices and highlighting the diversity and strengths of the Danube Region. The project unites regions from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine, reaching out to young people from both bustling cities and quiet rural areas. It’s not just about discussions; YODEC’s activities are about making sure that every young voice, from every corner of the Danube basin, is heard.

Why YODEC?

YODEC was born out of a real need. Young people are interested in EU affairs but often find it difficult to make their voices heard in traditional policy-making. Here’s how YODEC is bridging that gap:

1. Access to Engagement:

Many young people feel disconnected from policy platforms. YODEC makes engagement accessible through both online tools and local gatherings.

2. Training and Support:

YODEC recognizes that not everyone has the skills or resources to engage in policy discussions. By providing training in advocacy and public policy, the project empowers young ambassadors to confidently represent their peers.

3. Inclusivity:

Ensuring all voices are heard is key. YODEC is committed to inclusivity, with a focus on gathering feedback from youth in marginalized or rural backgrounds, aiming to have at least 25% of its participants from these communities.

Key Objectives:

1. Youth Ambassador Program:

Through this program, over 400 young people will become involved, learning to advocate and influence public policy.

2. Digital platform development:

A centralized online platform will serve as the hub for engagement,
education, and feedback collection.

3. Inclusivity:

The project ensures that feedback from underrepresented groups is part of the consultation process.
